Statement of Most Rev. James F. Checchio, JCD, MBA, Bishop of Metuchen, on the passing of Pope Francis:
With heavy hearts the Diocese of Metuchen mourns the passing of His Holiness, Pope Francis. From the moment of his election as Supreme Pontiff when he took the name Francis, our Holy Father has emphasized the mercy of God, embracing in his Petrine ministry the poor, the migrant, the marginalized and all those broken by this world’s problems and concerns. We entrust his noble soul to the hands of our Blessed Mother to accompany him to our Father's house. In this Jubilee year in which Pope Francis called us to be Pilgrims of Hope, he has now made the ultimate pilgrimage to the embrace of our loving God.

Posted March 11, 2025 Go Fund Me for Terranova Family
Dear St. Bartholomew School Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that on Saturday, Nurse Joella's husband, Christopher Terranova, passed away unexpectedly. He will be waked on Thursday, March 13 from 2-8 p.m. at MJ Murphy Funeral Home at 616 Ridge Rd., Monmouth Junction, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 14 at 10:15 a.m. at St. Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic Church in Kendall Park. In lieu of flowers, Joella has requested donations be made for her children’s education. A GoFundMe account has been set up https://gofund.me/91267ee5 for this purpose. As you can imagine, she will be out for the week. Please keep Joella, her children Giuliana and CJ, and their extended family in your prayers.

Dear Parents,
It was my great pleasure to celebrate The Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows at the Opening of School Mass on Friday. It was very special for me to celebrate this day with your children and the St. Bartholomew faculty and staff. The 8th grade students hosted the Mass and provided a beautiful experience for all who attended.

For over fifty years, Saint Bartholomew School has prepared students to lead fulfilling and purposeful lives in a climate of caring, trust, and respect rooted in the Gospel spirit of love, service, and charity. The model of community we seek is one that embraces our core mission: to love, educate, and inspire our children to live the teachings of Jesus Christ. It is in this sacred landscape that we are authentically present in the classroom and deeply connected with our students, and these connections are held in our hearts, where intellect and spirit meet.
We guide our students to weave a world of learning through best practice in instruction and learning in an environment that is exciting, collaborative, and reflective. An overarching theme of academic optimism, equity, and excellence prevails. Our enrollment is strong and increasing as we continuously update our technology, curriculum, facilities, books, library, professional development, and safety procedures in order to maintain the framework of Best Practice structures and proven cutting-edge implementation strategies.
We partner with our parents/guardians, volunteers, Home School Association, and School Advisory Committee to offer an affordable and outstanding education. Student leaders are developed through our Mentoring and Buddy Programs. We seek to develop and make visible the creativity, productivity, richness, and fruitfulness present in each student through our highly qualified faculty. It is for these reasons that, as stated by parents of a recent graduate in a testimonial, “Saint Bartholomew School should be the standard for all Catholic Elementary Schools.”
